Toxicity Profile for Benzyl isoeugenol (1994)
Abstract
Benzyl isoeugenol was a mild irritant on rabbit skin and has produced slight skin reactions in a few individuals. An attempt to induce skin sensitization in volunteers using a dilute solution was unsuccessful. Benzyl isoeugenol was of low acute oral and dermal toxicity in laboratory animals. Repeated oral administration increased liver weight in rats and caused biochemical changes in the blood. No evidence of genotoxicity was seen in a range of short-term screening assays.
