Toxicity Profile for Calcium chloride (1989)
Abstract
Calcium chloride was irritant and caused damage to the skin but concentrated solutions did not irritate the eye of humans. Acute oral toxicity was low to moderate in rats, rabbits and dogs but stomach irritation has been reported in patients ingesting the chloride. In general, no effects were seen in a range of genotoxicity screening assays including the Ames bacterial test.

What are Toxicity Profiles?
Toxicity Profiles are comprehensive, yet concise, monographs on the hazard potential of individual chemicals.
They are written by scientists specially trained in the evaluation of toxicity data and are prepared principally from primary information sources.
