Toxicity Profile for Allyl phenylacetate (1993)
Abstract
Allyl phenylacetate was irritating in patch tests on human skin, and was moderately irritant to rabbit skin. Attempts to induce skin sensitization in volunteers using the (diluted) pure material were unsuccessful. Allyl phenylacetate demonstrated a moderate acute oral toxicity in the rat, whilst its acute dermal toxicity in the rabbit was not high. Hydrolysis has been demonstrated, a reaction which would produce allyl alcohol, a known liver toxin in mammals.
