Toxicity Profile for Methyl heptine carbonate (1997)
Abstract
Methyl heptine carbonate was an irritant to rabbit and human skin. Freshly prepared samples of the carbonate did not induce skin sensitization in volunteer studies, but older samples were active. The acute toxicity in laboratory animals was moderate to low by the oral and dermal routes. A limited long-term oral study in rats failed to identify any particular site of toxic action. Chromosome damage was not observed in mice treated by injection and no mutagenic activity was detected in an Ames bacterial test or in the fruit fly.
