Toxicity Profile for Piperonyl acetone (1997)
Abstract
The neat material was not an irritant to rabbit skin. A solution of piperonyl acetone did not demonstrate any skin sensitizing potential in human studies. The acute toxicity in laboratory animals was low by the oral and dermal routes. In rats, repeated oral exposure caused no adverse effects on the blood or a wide range of organs. Chromosome damage was not observed in mice treated by injection and no mutagenic activity was detected in an Ames bacterial test or in the fruit fly. Piperonyl acetone has not been tested for carcinogenicity.
