Toxicity Profile for Dodecyl gallate (1989)
Abstract
Dodecyl gallate has demonstrated both an irritant and sensitizing potential in man. The acute oral toxicity in rats was low. Repeated oral administration to rats affected organ weights, produced tissue changes in the liver, kidney and spleen, and possibly induced mild anaemia. In a multi-generation reproduction study, decreased pup survival was seen when rats were fed maternally toxic doses. Limited feeding studies found no evidence of carcinogenic activity in rats. There was no indication of DNA damage in a bacterial assay.
