Toxicity Profile for n-Butyl methacrylate (1988)
Abstract
Irritation of the eyes and respiratory tract was reported in workers exposed to n-butyl methacrylate vapour. The liquid was shown to be a powerful skin sensitizing agent in guinea-pigs. It was of low acute toxicity in various species of laboratory animals when administered orally, dermally or by inhalation. Reproductive effects (early foetal death and foetal malformations) occurred when it was injected into pregnant rats. There was no evidence of mutagenic activity in Ames bacterial tests. n-Butyl methacrylate has not been tested for carcinogenicity.
