Diphenyl ether (1989)AbstractDiphenyl ether irritated rabbit skin and the eyes and nose of rats and rabbits. It had a low acute oral toxicity in rats and a low acute dermal toxicity in rabbits. In rats, repeated oral doses caused cellular changes in various organs, including the liver, spleen and kidneys. Diphenyl ether gave no evidence of mutagenicity in Ames bacterial assays. Toxicity Profiles are comprehensive, yet concise, monographs on the hazard potential of individual chemicals. They are written by scientists specially trained in the evaluation of toxicity data and are prepared principally from primary information sources.
