Toxicity Profile for Diphenyl ether (1989)

Abstract

Diphenyl ether irritated rabbit skin and the eyes and nose of rats and rabbits. It had a low acute oral toxicity in rats and a low acute dermal toxicity in rabbits. In rats, repeated oral doses caused cellular changes in various organs, including the liver, spleen and kidneys. Diphenyl ether gave no evidence of mutagenicity in Ames bacterial assays.
