Toxicity Profile for Methyl nicotinate (1993)

Abstract

Methyl nicotinate is a skin irritant in man, in particular producing vasodilatation. A few patients who applied liniments containing methyl nicotinate and other components suffered adverse reactions including faintness, nausea, pain and skin rashes. Intraperitoneal injection affected liver enzyme activity in mice. No carcinogenicity, genotoxicity or adequate reproductive toxicity studies have been undertaken.

What are Toxicity Profiles?
