Toxicity Profile for 2-Acetylfuran (1995)
Abstract
Liver effects have been reported in mice and rats given a single intraperitoneal injection of 2-acetyfuran. It damaged the chromosomes of mice given single or repeated doses by the oral route and hamster cells treated in culture. In bacterial assays, 2-acetylfuran has given some indication of activity in tests for DNA damage and was mutagenic in an Ames test.
