Toxicity Profile for Diethyl malonate (1996)

Abstract

Diethyl malonate was slightly irritant to the skin of rabbits and caused severe burning to rabbit eyes. No skin sensitization or skin irritation was induced in volunteers treated with dilute solutions. The ester was of low acute oral and dermal toxicity in laboratory animals. According to a brief report, no target organs were identified in rats treated orally for 90 days. Diethyl malonate was evidently not mutagenic in Ames bacterial tests.

What are Toxicity Profiles?

Toxicity Profiles are comprehensive, yet concise, monographs on the hazard potential of individual chemicals. They are written by scientists specially trained in the evaluation of toxicity data and are prepared principally from primary information sources.
