Allyl cinnamate was irritant to human skin and caused skin tissue changes following repeated application to guinea-pigs. An attempt to induce skin sensitization in volunteers using low concentrations was unsuccessful. Allyl cinnamate was of moderate acute oral toxicity in the rat and single oral doses produced evidence of liver damage. No genotoxic potential was identified in a range of short-term screening assays.
