Allyl cyclohexylpropionate was of moderate acute oral toxicity in the rat and guinea-pig. No tissue abnormalities were found in the major organs of rats given repeated oral doses although several allyl esters have been shown to be hydrolysed to allyl alcohol, a known liver toxin. Allyl cyclohexylpropionate gave no evidence of activity in a range of short-term genotoxocity assays. Skin reactions have been produced in patch tests on a few individuals although it is not clear whether these represented an irritant or allergic response.
