Allyl phenoxyacetate was of moderate acute oral and dermal toxicity in the rat and rabbit respectively. Single oral doses produced liver damage in rats. No evidence of genotoxicity was seen in a range of short-term screening assays. It may have shown some skin irritancy and sensitization potential in man, although the data available were not conclusive. The neat material was not irritant to rabbit skin.
