Cinnamyl propionate was of low acute oral toxicity in rats and of low acute dermal toxicity in rabbits. Liver enzyme activity was decreased in mice treated by intraperitoneal injection. The neat material was mildly irritating to the skin of rabbits, but a dilute solution did not irritate human skin. An attempt to induce skin sensitization in volunteers using a dilute solution was unsuccessful.
