Propargyl alcohol was a skin and eye irritant in rabbits. It was of moderate to high acute oral, dermal and inhalation toxicity to laboratory animals, and repeated inhalation exposure caused damage to the liver and kidneys of rats. Weak mutagenicity has been reported in a bacterial Ames test.
