Triisopropanolamine did not induce skin sensitization in volunteers treated with dilute solutions. It caused severe eye and skin damage in rabbits and was of low acute toxicity in laboratory animals exposed orally or dermally. Repeated oral administration caused blood compositional changes in rats. There was no evidence of mutagenicity in an Ames bacterial test.
