EFSA has derived adequate intakes (AIs) for magnesium based on observed intakes in healthy populations. The AIs for adults were set at 350 mg/day for men and 300 mg/day for women (including those pregnant or breast-feeding). For children, the derived values range from 80 mg/day (infants aged 7-11 months) to 300 mg/day (boys aged 10-17).
