The two new EFSA Panels that were created to replace the Panel on Food Additives, Flavourings, Processing Aids and Materials in Contact with Food (AFC), held their inaugural meetings on 10 July 2008. These new groups are the Panel on Food Additives and Nutrient Sources added to Food (ANS) and the Panel on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes, Flavourings and Processing Aids (CEF).
