Joanna Day Toxicologist

Dr Joanna Day joined Bibra part-time in late 2013. She is enjoying the challenges of finding, collating and summarising toxicology data on a wide-range of substances for toxicity profiles.

Previously, Jo worked as a project manager for Sterix Ltd., a start-up company at Imperial College London, for over 10 years, and as a post-doctoral research associate at both Imperial College London and the University of Manchester. During Jo’s early career she studied extracellular matrix biology, specialising in cartilage structure and function. While at Imperial, her work was focussed on the targeting of steroidogenic pathways, developing novel treatments for hormone-dependent cancers and other diseases. Additionally, she was involved in other projects which included the evaluation and targeting of other pathways for cancer therapies, and the study of multi-drug resistance.

Jo has a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Manchester, and an MSc in Toxicology and BSc Hons in Biochemistry, both from the University of Birmingham. Jo’s love of travel and fine food has been temporarily interrupted by the demands of her lovely family; presently she spends most of her “free” time drinking decaf lattes in soft play areas, parks, and playgrounds.
