OECD has recently finalised its complete guidance document on the design and conduct of chronic toxicity and carcinogenicity bioassays, supporting its Test Guidelines for carcinogenicity (TG 451), chronic toxicity (TG 452) and combined chronic toxicity/carcinogenicity studies (TG 453). This guidance offers over 100 pages of advice and background information relevant to the design of such studies, including sections covering the formulation of a mode of action and the statistical analysis of results.
