Philip Copestake Principal Toxicologist

RSB/BTS and European Registered Toxicologist

Philip has over 25 years of experience in desk-based toxicology with bibra toxicology advice & consulting, and is a RSB/BTS and European Registered Toxicologist (ERT). He has a broad range of expertise and has been involved in providing toxicological advice to a diverse range of industry sectors, UK and overseas government departments, and international NGOs – acting as an author and Peer Review Committee member on WHO IPCS International Chemical Safety Card (ICSC) and CICAD projects.

Recent years have seen Philip involved in the management of a number of complex regulatory dossier preparation projects under the EU REACH and Biocidal Products legislation (including literature searching, data-gap analyses, Integrated Testing Strategies, DNEL derivation, PBT/vPvB assessments, classification and labelling and CSR production).

With a background additionally in Information Science, Philip has a particular interest in information gathering for toxicology and regularly lectures to students on this topic at the University of Surrey School of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences. These information searching skills have also been utilised over many years through the provision of tailored literature tracking and alerting services to a number of industry groups. He has authored a chapter on Information Resources for Toxicology in General and Applied Toxicology (second edition), Volume 1, edited by Ballentyne B., Marrs T., and Syversen T. (Macmillan Reference Ltd, 1999).

In his free time Philip can be found teaching yoga and/or painting – he is both a qualified yoga instructor and an accomplished artist.
