Toxicity Profile for 4,4'-Oxybis (benzenesulphonyl hydrazide) (1997)

Abstract

There is limited evidence that 4,4'-oxybis(benzenesulphonyl hydrazide) irritated the skin and eyes of laboratory animals. A moderate to low acute oral toxicity was seen in rats and mice; effects on the nervous system were observed. Following repeated oral exposure, liver, kidney and adrenal effects were seen in limited studies in rats. Mutagenic activity was demonstrated in bacterial assays, including an Ames test, and DNA damage was induced in cultures of rat and mouse cells. No evidence of genotoxic potential was found in mice treated by intraperitoneal administration.

What are Toxicity Profiles?

Toxicity Profiles are comprehensive, yet concise, monographs on the hazard potential of individual chemicals. They are written by scientists specially trained in the evaluation of toxicity data and are prepared principally from primary information sources.
