beta-Naphthyl ethyl ether (2002)
Abstract
beta-Naphthyl ethyl ether was a skin irritant in rabbits. It did not induce skin sensitization when repeatedly applied, in dilute solution, to the skin of volunteers. The ether was of low acute toxicity in rats treated orally and in rabbits treated dermally. Repeated administration in the diet of rats caused cataract development. There was no evidence of chromosome damage in mice given a single intraperitoneal injection. No mutagenic activity was seen in bacterial tests (including Ames assays) or in the fruit fly.
