Nigrosine (1993)AbstractNigrosine was of low acute oral toxicity in the rat, although liver and kidney weights were altered and microscopic changes to the kidney and testes were reported following repeated oral administration. It failed to induce chromosomal damage in hamster cells in culture. No increase in tumour incidence was reported in a limited skin painting study in mice. A dilute solution was judged to be non-irritant to the rabbit eye and did not induce skin sensitization in guinea-pigs. Toxicity Profiles are comprehensive, yet concise, monographs on the hazard potential of individual chemicals. They are written by scientists specially trained in the evaluation of toxicity data and are prepared principally from primary information sources.
