…Proposals for harmonised classification, and additional data on two substances

Under CLP, there is a legal obligation for suppliers to evaluate the hazards of chemicals (substances and mixtures) to be placed on the market, and to classify and label them appropriately. An option also exists for Member State Competent Authorities or industry to propose harmonised classification and labelling of a substance across Europe. Following the submission of a CLH dossier, ECHA organises a public consultation period of 45 days. Under this scheme, proposals have been submitted by the Dutch, French, Slovenian and UK authorities to standardise the classification and labelling of:

  • C(M)IT/MIT (reaction mass of 5-chloro-2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one and 2-methyl-isothiazol-3(2H)-one (3:1))
  • isoeugenol
  • 2-methylisothiazol-3(2H)-one
  • ε-metofluthrin

Additional information has also been made available for salicylic acid and methylhydrazine, relating to respective harmonised classifications for developmental toxicity and carcinogenicity.
