2-Bromo-4,6-dinitroaniline caused mild eye irritation in rabbits but did not induce skin irritation when tested in solution. It was of low acute oral toxicity in rats, although effects on the liver, lung, heart and nervous system were seen at high oral doses. Mutagenicity was demonstrated in Ames bacterial tests and some evidence of genotoxicity was apparent in mammalian cells in culture.
