Ammonium thiosulphate was generally of low acute oral toxicity to rodents but rats exhibited tissue damage in a wide variety of organs. Effects seen in rats on single or repeated oral and inhalation exposures have included changes in cardiovascular and nervous system activity, a decrease in the number of red blood cells, and liver injury. No skin irritation has been reported from repeated application of relatively high concentrations to humans or rats.
