Dibutyltin maleate is of moderate acute oral toxicity in rodents, and evidently produced liver and intestinal effects in chickens fed single doses. High acute toxicity was demonstrated in rats treated by inhalation. It caused foetal malformations when given once to pregnant rats by stomach tube. The maleate was a possible skin irritant and/or sensitizer in man. No information was identified on dibutyltin maleate’s immunotoxic potential.
