Linalyl isobutyrate did not induce skin sensitization or cause irritation when applied, diluted, to the skin of volunteers. The neat material was a moderate skin irritant in rabbits. Acute toxicity by the oral route in rats and mice, and by the dermal route in rabbits, was low. Limited studies in rats involving repeated oral administration did not identify any specific target organs for toxicity.
