Neopentyl glycol diacrylate (NPGDA) was a moderate to severe skin and eye irritant in the rabbit. A strong sensitizing potential has been demonstrated in guinea-pigs. It is of low acute oral toxicity in the rat and moderately toxic via the dermal route in rabbits. Prolonged dermal applications to mice gave evidence of local carcinogenicity. An Ames bacterial test gave no evidence of mutagenic potential. In mammalian cells in culture, NPGDA did not induce chromosomal damage but was mutagenic.
