In long-term feeding studies, p-cresidine was carcinogenic to both rats and mice, the main site of its action being the urinary bladder, nasal cavity and liver. Tissue changes (other than tumours) were also seen in a range of other organs. p-Cresldine was of moderate acute oral toxicity in rats. Positive results have been displayed in genotoxicity screening assays including the Ames bacterial test.
