The acute oral toxicity of Prussian Blue in rats was low. No skin and eye irritation were evidently induced in rabbits with one form of the pigment. High oral doses (mainly as ferric ferrocyanide or its potassium salt) given repeatedly were generally without overt adverse effect in man. No evidence of mutagenicity was seen with ferric ferrocyanide in a limited Ames test in bacteria.
