Triethylene glycol bis(2-ethylhexanoate) produced mild skin and eye irritation in laboratory animals, and weak skin sensitization in guinea pigs. Its acute oral and dermal toxicity was low in rodents and rabbits. Rats died when exposed to the mist formed by cooling air saturated with the vapour. No adverse effects were seen in a limited feeding study in rats.
