Zinc naphthenate was an eye irritant in rabbits and a skin irritant in rabbits and guinea pigs. Low acute toxicity was shown in rats treated orally and in rabbits exposed dermally. Repeated dermal treatment caused liver changes in rabbits. Oral administration to rats had no effect on fertility, though treatment during pregnancy produced foetal toxicity at a dose level that was also maternally toxic.
