In the light of newly-available data on in vitro tests for absorption by human skin cells, EFSA has updated its 2012 guidance on dermal absorption values for use in the risk assessment of active substances in pesticides and other plant protection products. Recommendations for performing and interpreting dermal absorption studies are also given, as is guidance on default values and cross-route extrapolation for active substances where dermal absorption data are lacking for active substances and/or appropriate read-across candidates.
