A June 2015 meeting of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) discussed the carcinogenicity of three chlorinated insecticides. Lindane was classified as “carcinogenic to humans” (Group 1), 1,1,1‑trichloro-2,2-bis(4-chlorophenyl)ethane (DDT) as “probably carcinogenic to humans” (Group 2A) and 2,4‑dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4‑D) as “possibly carcinogenic to humans” (Group 2B). These assessments are due to be published as volume 113 of the IARC Monographs series.
