Further to its meeting in February 2013, IARC has released a monograph assessing the carcinogenic potential of PCBs (including “dioxin-like” PCBs). The IARC Working Group classified these compounds in Group 1 (“carcinogenic to humans”) based on sufficient evidence of carcinogenicity in humans (malignant melanoma, and possibly also non-Hodgkin lymphoma and breast cancer) and in laboratory animals.
