…ECHA publishes official Article 95 list for biocides

In accordance with Article 95 of the BPR, ECHA has published a list of relevant active substances, and substance and product suppliers, to “ensure the equal treatment of persons placing active substances on the market”. As from 1 September 2015, “a biocidal product consisting of, containing or generating a relevant substance, included in the Article 95 list, shall not be made available on the market unless either the substance supplier or the product supplier is included in this list for the product-type(s) to which the product belongs”.

…Ten opinions adopted by Biocidal Products Committee

The BPC has adopted opinions concerning the approval of four active substances as various product types (PTs):

Clothianidin as PT 18 (insecticides, acaricides and products to control other arthropods).

Glutaraldehyde as:

  • PT 2 (private area and public health area disinfectants and other biocidal products)
  • PT 3 (veterinary hygiene biocidal products)
  • PT 4 (food and feed area disinfectants)
  • PT 6 (in-can preservatives)
  • PT 11 (preservatives for liquid-cooling and processing systems)
  • PT 12 (slimicides)

N,N’-Methylenebismorpholine as:

  • PT 6
  • PT 13 (metalworking-fluid preservatives)

2-Methylisothiazol-3(2H)-one (MIT) as PT 13.
