The OECD has issued a draft guideline describing Defined Approaches (DAs) for the evaluation of skin sensitisation potential, together with a comprehensive supporting document. Three DAs are discussed and reviewed, the AOP-based “2 out of 3” approach and two associated integrated testing strategies, with a focus on the use of in chemico/in vitro testing methods to predict hazard and potency.
