OECD invites comments (by 13 September) on a draft updated test guideline (TG 458) and a draft test guideline (not yet numbered). Both relate to in vitro methods for detecting potential endocrine disrupting chemicals, which utilise the androgen receptor (AR), a nuclear receptor that can mediate an endocrine disruption response by acting as a transcription factor. The new TG method uses the 22Rv1/MMTV_GR-KO cell line (with minimal glucocorticoid receptor-mediated response) to detect and quantitatively measure androgen and anti-androgen activities, using luciferase as a reporter gene.
