Following its 134th meeting in March 2015, the CIR Expert Panel has made available four final (or amended final) safety assessments covering a large number of cosmetic ingredients. These assessments summarise the available data and possible human health effects for each compound (or group of compounds) as used in cosmetic products. The following are covered:

  • ceramides
  • lecithin and other phosphoglycerides
  • polyethylene glycol (PEG) diesters
  • sodium benzotriazolyl butylphenol sulfonate

In addition, the meeting saw the approval of tentative safety assessments on:

  • Indian pennywort (Centella asiatica) derived ingredients
  • PEGs cocamine
  • polyenes
  • polysorbates
