Following its 135th meeting in June 2015, the CIR Expert Panel has made available four final (or amended final) safety assessments covering a large number of cosmetic ingredients. These assessments summarise the available data and possible human health effects for each compound as used in cosmetic products. The following chemicals, and groups of chemicals, are covered:

  • Centella asiatica-derived ingredients
  • PEGs cocamine
  • polyenes
  • polysorbates

In addition, the meeting saw the approval of five tentative safety assessments, on:

  • Citrus fruit-derived ingredients
  • nonoxynols
  • polysaccharide gums
  • soy proteins and peptides
  • trialkyl trimellitates
