Health risk assessment of oral hygiene products
Client
A major multinational provider of oral healthcare products.
Background
Bibra was asked to assess the health risks posed to volunteers in a test panel exposed to three oral healthcare products.
Project Goals
Review the available toxicological data on relevant chemical constituents, and conduct human health risk assessments under two different exposure scenarios.
Approach
Bibra conducted literature searches utilising the in-house TRACE database, and reviewed information on relevant chemical ingredients. Where possible, Expert Group evaluations were consulted as key sources of data, and chemicals were assessed with a focus on oral and local exposure. Bibra estimated relevant worst-case intakes for the test panel volunteers, and concluded on likely health risks.
Project Outcome
Having considered the available toxicity information on the endpoints of interest, bibra provided the client with toxicity summaries and a human health risk assessment of each ingredient within the three products.
