The FSA has set a deadline of 31 March 2021 for companies to submit valid novel food authorisation applications for any food products containing CBD. After this deadline, only products for which there is a valid application, which includes an appropriate safety assessment, will be allowed to remain on the market. In addition, the FSA is advising those who are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking any medication not to consume any CBD product. For healthy adults the FSA recommends no more than 70 mg/day to be consumed. This new precautionary advice is based on recent findings by the UK Committee on Toxicology (COT; see below).
