The sixth revised edition of the UN’s GHS (Rev.6) has been made available. This provides guidance on the classification of chemicals according to physical, chemical and toxicological properties, and on the harmonised communication of the associated hazards (e.g. through labels and safety data sheets). This edition includes a new hazard class for desensitised explosives, a new hazard category for pyrophoric gases, new miscellaneous provisions intended to clarify the criteria for some hazard classes, additional information required in the safety data sheet, revised and further rationalised precautionary statements, and a new example addressing labelling of small packaging.
